The Flower Crown

CICCIOLINA and her NAIF soul, or rather CICCIOLINA with her FLOWER POWER crown.

It’s CICCIOLINA Ilona Staller’s “fashion-mania,” the ultimate MUST-HAVE that accompanies the famous GLOBAL POP DIVA to every event.

In a world that, not only due to the hypocrisy and unnaturalness of Catholicism—polluted by pedophilia and obsessed with sexuality, thus producing a morbid, twisted, and depraved sexuality precisely because it is denied—but also because of the unresolved neuroses of many so-called “secular and progressive” intellectuals, I managed to invent a natural sexuality: exhibited, explicit, spectacular, communicative, symbolic, allegorical, and even commercial, yet ultimately bright, optimistic, youthful, naturist, and therefore, paradoxically chaste, pure, and honest. Because it is true.

That’s why I wear the crown of flowers…

I wear the flower crown because I feel Botticellian—I adore Botticelli, and for me, it is a symbol that reflects his art: an exceptional botanical symbol! I draw inspiration from Botticelli’s works, filled with countless flower varieties… a refined and highly personal reconstruction of the myth of the birth of Spring (a personification of natural forces awakening to new life, which is exactly the message I wish to convey: love and sex as a means of creating new life).

The crown symbolizes awards, honors, completeness, perfection, immortality, and greatness—just like CICCIOLINA. Even as a young girl, I embodied what today is LADY GAGA. I was the first LADY GAGA, who has now become a commercial icon across the ocean, but CICCIOLINA remains unique and inimitable.

How my first flower crown was born…

I was in a shopping center in Rome—what is now commercially known as COIN. While visiting a jewelry store inside, I was struck by a display case containing a cord decorated with flowers, about 40 cm long. I asked the saleswoman if I could see it up close. I took it and, just by chance, wrapped it around my head.

The saleswoman, somewhat surprised, exclaimed that it wasn’t meant to be worn on the head—it was a necklace! But from that unusual gesture, my first flower crown was born, simply from what was meant to be a necklace. At that time, I didn’t have much money with me, so I asked the saleswoman to keep the “necklace” for me. The next day, I went back to pick it up along with a matching bracelet.

My first Flower Power appearances…

It’s important to emphasize that the first female bare breast ever shown on Rai-TV was mine, as well as the first full nude in a nightclub. And then there was the so-called “pornography” (comics, films, magazines, tapes, videos): the invention of the Hippy-style crown on the head was mine, just as the successful agency for models and actresses specializing in erotic roles—“Diva Futura,” recognized worldwide—was my idea.

I recall the unforgettable 1979 parade on a typical Roman carriage adorned with flowers, wearing tulle and Sangallo lace, in the middle of a crowded “Campo de’ Fiori” market, with my flower crown on my head. And how could I forget the Nice Carnival, the birthplace of a thousand colorful and fragrant flowers, where I wore a crown of fresh flowers, specially made by skilled local florists?

By revolutionizing intellectual stereotypes and popular culture, I created an unprecedented character—both sexual and childlike—the “porno-baby,” the only true Italian Lolita with my iconic flower crown.

In my famous Radio Luna show “Voulez-vous coucher avec moi?” (which means “Would you like to make love with me?”), I called my listeners “Cicciolini.” This was inspired by the affectionate Italian diminutive cicciolo or cicciolino, often used for children (“ciccio” in plants refers to a young bud) and, by extension, for lovers, who have always been compared to children.

My fans were both male and female because girls always loved me. Being so simple, natural, childlike, and “naive,” they never saw me as a threatening rival but rather as someone they could relate to. That’s how they perceived their own sexuality: soft even when it was hard.

Fashion or Symbol?

It was a great invention of mine: the Hippy-Chic flower crown… and so, I wore different flower crowns at every show.

And now, it’s a true trend… even Selena Gomez, the singer-actress and “America’s sweetheart,” wears a garland of red roses on her head. So let there be flower crowns! In perfect romantic rebellion style—part childlike, part extravagant, classic yet rock—they give an ethereal air to Leone di Lernia and Jake La Furia.

They bring that Hippy-Chic vibe that Margherita Missoni naturally exudes—something that some girls, no matter how hard they try, will never have (any reference to Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie is purely coincidental).

The flower crown is a great invention, a fashion must-have signed CICCIOLINA.

A floral accessory that immediately takes me back to the late 1960s, to Flower Power and its followers with flowers woven into their hair. An ornamental element that has made a comeback at my Special Guest nights and has quickly become a top trend for all the stars, as we can see online.

Many brides use this accessory for a look that is both romantic and bohemian, highly decorative and feminine—perfect for a summer or outdoor wedding.

How many and what kinds of flower crowns do I own?...

In my penthouse in Rome, I have flower crowns to suit every taste: bright and full of flowers like the ones I wore at the GIVENCHY party in Milan, hosted by Riccardo Tisci. My crowns are also simple and in soft colors, like the ones I choose for trendy nights in major LGBT clubs.

To feel ULTRA CHIC, I wear unique, handcrafted pieces made in Italy, overflowing with flowers and colors, encrusted with Strass crystals. For New Year’s Eve events, I prefer crowns with golden leaves over the more abundant floral ones.

Over time, my flower crowns have evolved: the first ones were made of silk or plastic flowers. Then, I designed woodland crowns with evergreen leaves, surrounded by hawthorn, fake birds, and tiny butterflies. Later came ice-crystal crowns and crowns of faux poppies.

No matter which model I choose for my Special Guest nights in clubs, I follow one rule: they must be paired with very classic outfits to avoid looking too extravagant. Because, as we know, flowers on the head are a serious matter.

My most special and unique flower crown…

The most special flower crown I have ever worn was personally created by designer Jean Paul Gaultier, made entirely of real flowers and designed specifically for my fashion show. A truly stunning crown, rich in colors, that was a great success on the runway.

Lately, I’ve been completely captivated by oversized floral crowns (what could be more spring-like?!)—especially those with elegant colors, fine materials, and perfect proportions, combined with that romantic, Botticellian charm that one simply cannot resist.

Whether it’s a headband, a fascinator, or a garland of fresh flowers, the key is to frame the face with a crown of colorful or white flowers, large and small. A true MUST in my style, by CICCIOLINA!

With my flower crown on my head, I always wish for peace, love, and no more wars in the world.

I love you all.
